Music Video Mondays – Jungkook’s Standing Next to You

Welcome back to Music Video Mondays!

Hi Guys! I have missed this, and I wanted to choose a brand new music video out over the weekend, but we all know BTS is my ultimate group and although it was released on 3rd November 2023, I am not ready to stop talking about it, so it has got to be done. My first Music Video Mondays music video has got to be none other than our beautiful but a little bit chaotic Golden Maknae himself, Jeon Jungkook’s Standing next to you.

But let me know what your most watched videos are this week in the comments and I promise to check them and update my socials with any that I am loving.

Enjoy!

First up – Still showing lots of love for Jungkook’s solo album and still playing many songs on repeat but as this is Music Video Monday, let’s have a quick watch (again) altogether:

Honestly, I am still floored by this video! The choreo is insane and it is giving all of us definite MJ vibes! The hip thrusting, body rolls aside, because that move is just too sexy for words, Jungkook is really showing us he has grown into an excellent dancer. He is truly living up to his Golden Maknae name here, and let’s be honest as much as he sometimes has said he doesn’t think he deserves this accolade, he absolutely does! Not because he might be naturally talented and good at lots of things but because he puts effort in to try new things and practises and puts himself out there for the world to see, that is what truly makes him GOLDEN. Jungkook is definitely paying homage to Michael Jackson with this light-hearted but addictive pop song showcasing all the right moves in all the right places.  We have Keone Madrid and Shay Latukolan to thank in most part for this, and I for one, want to say from the bottom of my heart, thank you, just thank you.

I am not a dancer, unless you count dancing round my kitchen/living room/aisle at Tesco, which I assume you all don’t but still all being said, even someone with two left feet can see how amazing he is. Not only is he talented but he’s also got the passion down. Put this together with his stunning vocals and outstanding stage presence and you have, just one incredible performer. I am proud to be ARMY and I will support each and every member in wherever their talent takes them, I may not love every single song BTS or as solo artists, that they make but I will still support each and everyone of them and with songs like Standing next to you, Yes or No and Too sad to dance, I am here to support, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday…  you guessed it seven days a week!

And then, when you don’t think it can get any better, you remember he is 1/7 of an amazing talented group of artists and it just really makes you realise how truly amazing each individual member is. When individually they are amazingly talented and inspiring artists and then they come together and WOW!!! They are a true force to be reckoned with, because individually they could rule the world, and honestly all together they could conquer any of their dreams and I can’t wait to see what are they going to do next on their return. I am scared and excited! (I know we don’t know exactly in 2025, but I am still counting down the days, see my timer below! )

Right, back to Music Video Mondays video! Whilst showing off his impressive dance skills, we also see him chasing and wooing a women reminiscent of a romance film, or as we have since discovered, a Romeo and Juliet of sorts. A romantic story about desire and resolve played out beautifully in vintage and yet modern screenplay with highlights from other BTS masterpieces such as the devil wings as showcased in Blood, Sweat and Tears and the theme for Map of the Soul version 2 making you fall in love with it even more. Additionally, taking a detour to the live version of this, if the dance break doesn’t make you think of the  purple suede clad Jung Hoseok in the dance break for Dynamite, are we even watching the same video or is that just me? Hobi is on my brain 24/7 so that one could just be me! Tanu Muino (Director) and Jose Tirado (production designer) was behind the the video and together created a visual masterpiece, because let’s be honest, Jungkook could have rocked up in his Calvin Kleins and danced around his living room and we would be here for it. But watching the music video, I really fell for the energy between Jungkook and the mysterious femme fatale character played by Pasha Haruli, and genuinely was hoping for some deeper romantic entanglement to unfold on screen.

your love became my life — hobi in this velvet jumpsuit 🥵

My final words for the day have got to be a love note to Brian Puspos, Ian Eastwood, Nick Joseph, Devin Pornel, Jake Roark Kodish, Nick Six and Vinh Nguyen who all formed part of what I can only imagine is a very tight-knit dance group (based on all the wonderful interactions we see, and kind words from Brian) for the music video and live performances. As much as I imagine each individual member is  loving it and having the time of their lives performing their own solo showcases all over the world, it must be a little bit hard or different to go from touring with 6 other really close, almost family, group members, where you live, breathe and eat together, to suddenly being one. So I wanted to thank all those dancers for joining Jungkook and undoubtedly supporting him and hopefully making the transition a little bit easier and a little less lonely for him. In fact, let’s not stop there, from dancers to make up artists, choreographers and all staff that travel around the world with these incredible men supporting them and keeping them company, whether it to be a sell out tour to a daytrip to six flags, we thank you.

I know this is a Music Video Mondays post, but I really wanted to say a quick word or 200 on Jungkook’s new album Golden. I knew from the teasers there was definitely going to be some songs I loved from this album and I wasn’t wrong. I just have to put it on record that I said on the teaser that I thought Yes or No would be a fave and now after a fair few (many, many) listens, it really is a brilliant song! Just had to share the love a little bit. What was your favourite from the teaser and did it remain when you heard the full song? Equally let me know if you didn’t enjoy some of the songs, I am all for sharing opinions in a respectable way 🙂 We don’t all have to love every single piece of work by an artist as long as we all remember to be kind and supportive. I assume if you are here and you got this far, you are ARMY and want to support BTS and every single member in their solo endeavours, even if we don’t absolutely love every little thing they release, its the love for the members, the message and being BTS ARMY that counts and how we treat each other that matters.
