We all love a good K-drama lead, but sometimes it’s the kdrama side characters, the funny best friends, the quiet souls with hidden pain, or the ones who love fiercely in the background, who completely steal the show. Give them their own show already!
I wish I could see more of their own stories, spin-offs, or just a little more love.

Hotel Del Luna: So Many Untold Stories
A Hotel Full of Stories We’ll Never Know All The Details For…
Hotel Del Luna had such a rich world filled with ghosts, secrets, and second chances. So many amazing kdrama side characters. Although there are glimpses of the hotel staff’s past lives, I would’ve loved to have seen more of their backstory and more than that, I would’ve liked to to see what happened to them in their new lives.
I know why we didn’t see as much of Junseok Noh because we needed him to move on to continue with the main story but I really liked his character and I wish we could have seen more of him. I loved his relationship with Manwol.
And don’t even get me started on Sanchez. Sweet, sincere, totally loyal—and yet barely given a story, and the story he got was heart wrenching. I still don’t quite understand the whole “Italian” bit, but I would’ve happily watched a whole mini-drama about his heartbreak, healing, and maybe even running a fancy ghost-friendly restaurant.

Business Proposal: The Kdrama Side Characters That Stole the Show
Cha Sung-hoon Deserved His Own Drama
Don’t get me wrong—I adored Business Proposal. The cast was brilliant and the main couple were sweet. I loved the plot, I think the setup Shin Hari playing YoungSeo was hilarious and probably not realistic but brilliant. I liked how much of the hijinks were just misunderstandings.
But let’s be honest: Secretary Cha and Young-seo stole every scene they were in. Their slow-burn chemistry, the unexpected drama with her family, the will they/ won’t they appeal, the non stop running into each other, almost like fate was beautiful.

But if I am being really really honest, I would watch a series with just secretary Cha with a side character Kang Tae Moo, just for the hilarious moments they shared. My all time favourite hilarious moment is where the grandfather thinks they’re dating—“Even if I liked men. He’s not really my style!”—absolute gold.

You cannot beat a good bromance!
I could’ve watched ten more episodes of just SungHoon and YoungSeo, awkwardly navigating their feelings and going on fancy little grocery dates, get them their own show already or perhaps more hilarious would be a show dedicated to his bromance with TaeMoo.
If like me you want more of everything to do with this drama, then did you know it’s based on a webtoon. Which you can buy here in the uk??? 😍

Love Next Door: The Soft Romance We Deserved To See More Of
Let Kdrama side characters Jeong Mo-eum & Kang Dan-ho Have Their Moment!
I really enjoyed Love Next Door, especially the main storyline, I love a good friends to lovers trope. I especially love when it surprises both parties, the obliviousness of some k-drama couples is just phenomenal but in a real cute, adorable way. I think this was such a good show to watch after a bout of very intense thrillers. But my number one contenders for side character supremacy has to go to one of the best side couples, as I completely fell for Jeong Mo-eum and Kang Dan-ho.
Mo-eum was such a passionate, driven character, and Dan-ho brought this sweet steadiness that balanced her out perfectly. But just when they were starting to build something beautiful… she had to leave.
I know she’s going to do amazing things, she has worked so hard and truly deserved to get that spot, but it made me sad we didn’t get more time with them together. Especially after she’d grown so close to the daughter—it felt like we were just scratching the surface of something really special. I genuinely would’ve watched an entire series about their growing relationship from the very beginning. I think it was such a heart wrenching and beautiful relationship, with so much depth and possibility. I really wanted to see more from them. Get them their own show already! I think everyone and his neighbour wants a mudflat man tshirt – you can absolutely have your own!
All the tik toks and YouTube videos I’ve watched, I’m not the only one who wanted to see more from them.
I did adore the end where he was the gift to be sent to the South Pole! But I want to see it! I want to see them happy raising the girl and maybe more babies when she’s saved the world in her own way!
So, who did I miss? Who do you think deserves their own show? Who reigns supreme as your number one Kdrama side characters?
